Inspire Your Style: Black is the New Black

Tuesday, March 4, 2014

Pair a hat with your classic black leather jacket and boots to transform your casual pieces into a more street style worthy look.

Partnering up your favorite black structured skirt with a trendy, statement sweatshirt and cool pointy toe shoes makes this look more daytime appropriate, and easy to transition from a creative office environment to a day out shopping with your favorite gal pals.
All black is a classic palette, therefore keeping it simple with a basic feminine top, tailored trousers, and a classic heel makes this the perfect all black, no fuss, effortless ensemble. Throw a blazer over it and replace your slouchy bag with a more structured tote and you are ready for a business meeting or a productive day at the office.

Although it may feel like some of us are still experiencing polar vortex like weather, while others (like myself) are bouncing between spring days and winter days, Spring is just around the corner. Lets not lose hope! You can easily transition your favorite all black pieces into spring by choosing floral print pieces with a black base and black cropped pants to show off those shoes you have been waiting to wear all winter.

Sneakers have become a girls best friend over the past two years. The sneaker wedge offered us a comfy option to wear with our dresses and skirts, but now the classic trainer has reared it 's sporty head and somehow has managed to look chic with just about everything. Say farewell to your run of the mill super trendy, almost fad'ish sneaker wedge and say hello to Nike, Adidas, and New balance. Classic sneakers look great paired with a simple tee, jeans (skinny, straight, or boyfriend) and a structured coat, a midi length dress or skirt, and trousers. For the perfect mix of dressy and casual, pair your sneakers with loose fitting leather trousers, a simple white top, and a structured bag.

Playing with textures when wearing an all black outfit makes the look more interesting. Choose one piece to be your stand out statement maker and keep the other pieces more simple.
When spring weather finally arrives and pretty pastels make a debut in your wardrobe, do not abandon your favorite black pieces. Pairing a black blazer and black shoes with an all white outfit is definitely a spring worthy look. Lets not forget that black and white is the color combo of the moment. In my opinion, it is the color combo of a lifetime.

Until Next Time.
